Rabid In The Kennel Farewell Countdown!

All good things must come to an end, and Rabid In The Kennel is no exception. And so it is with sadness and pride that we present our final episode today, Wednesday, December 14, 2011. As a special treat to our loyal listeners, we present the very best, most memorable performances from our two-and-a-half years of monthly shows on BreakThruRadio.com!

LISTEN NOW!

Given the outstanding talents of all the artists we were fortunate to record at The Kennel studio in Brooklyn, picking the cream of the crop was no easy feat. No doubt some fans will take exception to our choices, but hey, you can’t please everyone! We can only hope that the wide variety of great music gathered for our final broadcast will, at the very least, be a worthy send-off.

Rabid In The Kennel began in July 2009 as a special monthly segment of host Jack Rabid’s weekly “The Big Takeover” show on BTR and was spun off into its own show the following January. In that time we have presented dozens of well-known artists, including The Posies, TV Smith (Adverts), Joe Pernice (Pernice Brothers), Miranda Lee Richards, Justin Sullivan (New Model Army), Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh), Sloan, Astrid Williamson, Paul Collins (The Nerves, Paul Collins Beat), Alina Simone, Leatherface, Doug Gillard (Guided By Voices, Death of Samantha, Cobra Verde), Adam Franklin (Swervedriver), Visqueen, The Joy Formidable, The Depreciation Guild, Mitch Easter (Let’s Active), Kings Go Forth, Harolua Rose, Husband&Wife, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Low Water, Don McGlashan (Mutton Birds), The Left Banke and Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols).

But wait, there’s more! Our two-part “Best of The New Breed” series in the summer of 2010 showcased a baker’s dozen of up-and-coming artists from around the country, including Thirdborder, The Chambermaids, The Lost Patrol, Day Sleeper, Lady Magma, Living Days, Phillip Eno, Golden Bloom, Edward Rogers, Anthem In, Tiny Animals, Jeff Litman and The Seldon Plan.

And let’s not forget our exclusive, three-part broadcast of highlights from The Big Takeover 30th anniversary concerts at The Bell House in Brooklyn, which included performances by The Avengers, Channel 3, Visqueen, Springhouse, Libertines U.S., Flower, Mark Burgess (Chameleons), The Curtain Society, Jon Auer (The Posies, Big Star), Paul Collins, Steve Drewett (The Newtown Neurotics), The Sleepover Disaster, Don McGlashan, The Sharp Things and For Against.

Thanks and gratitude to everyone on the RITK staff: host Jack Rabid, chief engineer Billy “Prince Polo” Szeflinski, executive producer Jim Santo and producer Bryan Swirsky!

Special thanks to Kennel studio intern John Kritzman, Kennel co-owner and engineer James Pertusi, Perry Serpa of Good Cop Public Relations, and Cal Rifkin and everyone at Breakthru Radio!

Thanks also to the artists who took time from their busy schedules to come into the Kennel and deliver incredible performances month after month!

And last but certainly not least, thanks to all of our listeners around the world! You made it all worthwhile. Farewell!
